I began skiing when I was 10 years old and fell in love with the sport straight away, I am as excited by the sport today as I was on my first day. I have been lucky enough that skiing has taken me to work in countries all over the world including the USA, New Zealand, and France. I have been working in Megeve for the past 5 years and am always amazed by the vastness of the ski area and choice of terrain. But most of all, how few people know about it!

Principal Author of Parallel Dreams Alpine Skiing.
After 5 very successful years running BASS Chamonix with my wife and business partner Shona, we decided to set up BASS Megeve as a partner ski school. This is a natural development and now means that we can offer the same quality of service in the evasion Mont Blanc area. One of the great things about living, working and visiting the Mont Blanc region is that there are so many great ski resorts in such easy reach. I look forward to skiing with you this season and enjoying the fantastic variety of the Evasion Mont Blanc.

I have been teaching skiing for 28 years starting with coaching racing, and then progressed through the BASI system working for many ski schools in the Alps and America. I have been an ISTD for 22 years and a BASI trainer for 20 years; I am also a senior Snowsports England Coach, a Tutor for Snowsports Scotland, and trainer for IASI. I have held my Carte Professional (allowing me to work in France) for 17 years. I also hold the highest ski teaching qualifications from Ireland and America. I was in the British demonstration Ski Team from 1991 – 1999 representing BASI in Austria, Japan, and Norway at the Interski congress. I was the Chairman of BASI from 2004 – 2010 and I love to teach people to ski from beginners to experts of all ages.

I was brought up in a skiing family, my parents were instructors in Scotland and my older brother was into racing. I was soon following my brother around the mountain hot on his heels in all terrain and in all typical Scottish weather!
After spending several years in the Scottish Ski Team in the mid 80’s I gained my first instructor qualification which enabled me to teach on artificial slopes. Loving the sport and loving teaching has now brought me to Chamonix, the centre of skiing history. Everyone in Chamonix shares the same passion for the mountains & the outdoors, we are one big family.
When I head off to other parts of the Alps to Train other budding instructors for BASI or IASI (Irish Association of Snowsport Instructor) I know that I will soon be back and look forward to the spectacular drive back into the Valley looked on by the spectacular Mt Blanc.
