Winter has arrived in Chatel in the last two days the mountains are white after two days of snow, with the forecast for the next week of steadily dropping temperatures and snow forecast on Friday and again on Monday the Met office are forecasting 30 cm of snow down to 700m. So we are looking forwards to early opening of the lifts in December.

We are very proud that two of our instructors have been selected onto the British Interski Demonstration Team. The team has already started training to represent British skiing at the Interski Instructors congress in St. Anton, January 2011.
The Interski congress is held every 4 years and is the pinnacle of Ski Instruction, having Elaine Adam and Jaz Lamb representing BASS at this international event reinforces the position of BASS Morzine & BASS Les Gets at the forefront of British skiing and ski teaching.

Where? La Vormaine & Le Tour If you want to feel the power of the curve this season you need to develop and hone your carving skills. So what is carving? Carving is when the path of the ski tip and tail are the same. A carving ski will leave a clear, clean, thin track in the snow and when both skis are carving you will leave two lines in the snow rather like “railway tracks”.

There is a new snow experience out there The Back Country Skiing Course. Introduced in the winter of 2005 by Derek and Shona Tate and Robbie Fenlon in Chamonix it is a very interesting amalgamation of off-piste and ski-touring techniques; interesting because the two derive from quite different philosophies.
