January joy
The holidays are over, and for many, this means back to work. For ski resorts, it means the crowds have gone, leaving ski slopes with space to cruise in comfort and deserted lift lines that will have you zipping back up the mountain in a jiffy. It’s not too late to book a January getaway, whether a full week extravaganza or a short break of a few days. Skier math says you’ll actually be saving money by skiing in low-season, but if you are not convinced, here are a few reasons why you should.
Empty slopes mean that you can comfortably build confidence in a truly relaxing atmosphere.
Better snow conditions. We can’t say that there will always be better snow in low-season, but fewer skiers on the hill means that the slopes don’t get bumpy so early, and it takes longer for icy patches to form.
Cheaper flights and transfers, especially if you travel mid-week.
More flexible accommodation. As the resort is quieter, accommodation providers are more likely to consider short break stays and may even offer a package bundle that includes a ski pass.
All the village services, such as ski shops and restaurants, are quieter, meaning less waiting for you and often a more relaxed and welcoming service staff.
