Backcountry Bliss

“The Ultimate Introduction to Backcountry skiing”

These individual days are the ideal introduction to the joy of exploring the backcountry.

Led by Roy Henderson, a highly experienced Mountaineer and Winter Mountain and Climbing Instructor, he will make sure you are comfortable with your touring equipment, familiarise you with the beautiful backcountry environment and guide you to some amazing places. Roy has an array of skills and knowledge plus a great reputation for his patience, good nature and coaching skills.

He is ideally placed to lead these days with local knowledge of the mountains and the ability to deliver a combination of environmental education and off-piste coaching / leadership that is second to none.

These adventure days are designed for people who are experienced skiers (comfortable on harder red runs) who want to be introduced to touring equipment, (eg bindings, boots, skins, transceiver, shovel, probe etc), elementary skinning skills and skiing Off-Piste in a relaxed, managed and supported way. The challenges will be designed and tailored around the ability of the group and will involve some gentle skinning uphill.

Here’s what our clients have said about Roy’s coaching

“He’s a very patient, thoughtful and clear instructor, which was what we needed, and really listened to what we wanted to get out of it. We would definitely book him again”

“I know that the more experienced skiers really loved their lesson and were challenged and had a load of fun at the same time. Andy said, thanks for striking just the right balance to bring us on, without pushing us over the edge!”

“Roy was a lovely, knowledgeable, encouraging and very patient instructor, we had a great laugh with him and really enjoyed our lessons. Delighted to have learnt this new skill in such a relaxed and supportive environment. We will be singing your praises and will definitely get in touch if we come back to the area.”
