Jon first skied at the age of fifteen with his school but spent very limited time on snow until the age of 27 when he spent his first winter skiing in Morzine in 2001. Taking a career break from his job as a PE teacher he developed a real passion for skiing and decided to use his knowledge of sports teaching and retrain as a ski instructor. Inspired to ski at the highest level, Jon trained in the BASS Professional Programme and taught for the International Ski School in Morzine whilst working through his final qualifications. Upon completion of his International Ski Teaching Diploma in 2010, Jon became a fully qualified member of the BASS team.
From his work as PE Teacher, Jon brings a wealth of teaching experience and combines it with a relaxed, friendly manner and a deep knowledge of skiing. He takes great satisfaction imparting this knowledge to skiers of all ages and abilities and watching their confidence and enjoyment of skiing grow as they change the way they ski. Jon now also trains ski instructors as part of the BASS Professional Programme and continues to develop his own skiing, and, just as importantly, loves to ski purely for fun.
Sport has always been a big part of Jon's life. He played cricket to a high level as well as coaching football, rugby, basketball and cricket at school and club level in the UK. Jon currently lives back in the UK with his wife and young family, but he still comes back to visit and teach during the busy periods. Outside of skiing, Jon's other interests include road cycling, music and photography. The only problem he has is finding time to fit it all in!
